I let nature work
aware of moonlight
folding through leaves
slanting and rumpled

there is nothing here to understand

it happens in a heartbeat
and ends as cells dying
replaced by new cells

nature does not limp along
and does not go nowhere fast

not one object outgrows its purpose
it never blunders
it will try many ideas
before settling on one

it makes whale soundings
to judge distance
and reactions

it exhausts itself raining
